Ron Jenkins
LAS VEGAS – Ron Jenkins, age 74, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away April 27, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle with cancer.
Born March, 8, 1945, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Harold and Dorothy (nee Spetch) Jenkins, he moved to Newbury Township in 1950 and graduated from Newbury High School in 1963.
Ron served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969 and did a tour in Vietnam.
He worked construction for many years and was a construction supervisor in Las Vegas, where he was well regarded by all that worked with him.
Ron will be truly missed by all that knew him. He was devoted to his family and friends through his lifetime, and everyone knew him to have a very generous and giving heart.
His hobbies were golfing, riding his Harley, having lunch with his “buddies” and working on restoring his 1972 Chevelle with his sons.
But his most treasured past time was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joanne; daughters, Carey (Don) Walker, Brenda (Josh) Smith; sons, Brett and Bart; and eight grandsons, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
He also is survived by his sisters Linda (Gary) Heilman, Patti (Rick) Nester; brothers, Rick, Bob (Diane), Larry (Linda), Dave (Traci) and Ray (Linda); and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Wes and Ian; as well as his sister Geri Petrick.
There will be a celebration of Ron’s life on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Wicked Woods Golf Course (now Geauga Park District) on Route 44 from 1-5 p.m.
