George Edward Timmons

Timmons, George croppedNEWBURY TWP. – George Edward Timmons, 83, of Newbury Township, stepped into Heaven Friday morning, Aug. 5, 2016, at Lake Health Hospital.

Born in Auburn Township, on April 26, 1933, to Robert and Edna (nee Davis) Timmons, George married Clare Ann (nee Mitchell) Timmons on Nov. 6, 1954. She survives.

George was a 1951 graduate of Auburn High School.

He and his family owned and operated Timmons Farm, in Auburn, milking Holstein cows, farming and producing maple syrup.

George served in the U.S. Army and Auburn Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Auburn Township Board of Zoning Appeals, Kenston Athletic Booster, Geauga County Fair and Auburn Alumni, and was a longtime member of Ohio Holstein Association, Auburn Community Church and Geauga County Maple Syrup Hall of Fame.

George was a father of three, grandfather to seven, great-grandfather of five and loving uncle and friend to many.

George enjoyed following the activities of all the kids in his life from his family and friends. His hobbies included of golf, travel with his wife, Clare Ann, horseshoes, attending men’s Bible Study and, of course, the Geauga County Fair.

Additional survivors include his son Tim Timmons, of Monroe, Ind.; sister, Eleanor Sage, of Chardon; and sister-in-law, Dory Koller, of Chardon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Timmons; son Mitchell Edward Timmons; and daughters, Diane Lynn (Timmons) Buxton and Carol Ann (Walburn) Timmons.

A celebration service was held at 11 a.m. Aug. 13, with visitation one hour before at 10 a.m., at Auburn Community Church, 11046 Washington St.

A reception followed at Adam Hall from 12-1:30 p.m.

Private family burial service took place at Morton Cemetery, Newbury.

Pastor Lucille Abernathy and Tim Timmons officiated.
